About Warwick Tyrrell - Musical Director
Warwick Tyrrell is
one of Australia's most accomplished musicians. He was Principal
Trombonist of the London Philharmonic Orchestra for three years and

International Trombone Comopetition in 1988 and 1st Prize winner in
the 1984 ABC Instrumental & Vocal Competition. He was also

as well as the London Philharmonic in London and in South Africa.
He has had concertos especially commissioned for him by the ABC to
play and record. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation offered
him a recording contract to record trombone concertos which went on
sale internationally. It was described in the "Green recording
guide" as "the most exciting offering to come from the ABC Classics
label to date".
Warwick is also a trained singer. He was a soloist in recitals,
Babies Proms at the Opera House and also worked as a session singer
in Sydney. He auditioned successfully for ensemble and cover roles
in the Australian professional productions of Jolson(starring Rob
Guest) & Cabaret(starring Tina Arena, Toby Allen, and Lisa
McCune).
Four years ago Warwick began a new career path as conductor. He
has studied with the Queensland Youth Orchestra as part of a
Fellowship awarded to him by the Australia Council. He was also
accepted into the Symphony Australia Conducting Course and worked
with the Tasmanian Symphony and the Queensland Orchestra. Until
recently Warwick was Artistic Director to Sutherland Shire Brass
and also The Bankstown Carols (a large outdoor Christmas event
which attracts up to 10,000 people). With Sutherland Shire Brass,
Warwick led them to become State Champions and he also designed and
began a series of concerts with them which have been incredibly
successful - regularly selling out houses in the Sutherland
Entertainment Centre. This year Warwick is bringing other bands and
orchestras to the Sutherland Entertainment Centre.
Warwick is happily married to Donna and they have been blessed
with four beautiful children, Benjamin, Isabella, Genevieve and
Thomas.
