About Willoughby Youth Band
The Willoughby Youth Brass Band is the Most Successful
contesting Band in Australia.
Originally formed in 1959 under the guidance of Reg Bishop as
the Chatswood District Band, Willoughby City Band has been the
leading Senior and Junior A Grade combination in NSW for over 25
years. In the NSW contesting field, the Senior Band has won the
Championship 18 times and been second on 4 occasions, and the
Juniors have been victors at 23 contests and runners up on three
occasions.
One of the aims of the Willoughby Youth Brass Band is to offer
students who play brass or percussion instruments the opportunity
to play in an environment of fun and social activity.
The band is conducted by Warwick Tyrrell. Warwick is an
experienced conductor who has worked with a number of youth bands
and orchestras throughout Sydney.
