A favourite family-friendly event, the Carols in Willoughby Park features Willoughby Band and Willoughby Symphony Choir.
Bring a picnic blanket, sing along and Santa might even make a special appearance!
Food, drinks and coffee will be available from a variety of stalls.
Gates open to the public from 6pm with entertainment starting at 7pm.

Willoughby Youth Band wins state title

The annual NSW State Band Championships were held on Saturday 25th August with Willoughby Youth Band (WYB) crowned Junior A Grade champions for an astounding twenty-forth time.

Under the direction of Mr Brian McGuinness, WYB competed for the first time since 2008 and performed with great distinction to impress adjudicator Mr Mark Ford. Congratulations to the members of WYB for their hard work and excellent performance.

WYB has a long history of fostering musical excellence in the Willoughby youth community and always welcomes young brass musicians looking for a challenge to join as new members.

The senior band performed brilliantly as defending champions at this year’s NSW State Championship in Penrith, placing second after a strong lead up to the competition. Congratulations to our friends at St Marys Band Club who put on a fine performance, taking out first place.

A HUGE congratulations to our NSW State Solo Champions!

Mark Coleman won the Open Eb Horn, Brian McGuinness won the Open Flugel Horn, Jeff Ma came second in the Open Euphonium, and the three along with Gemma Ma won the Open Quartet.

Terrific results all round!

Lift your spirits and warm your soul with a selection of brass band melodies in Willoughby Band’s Cosy Mid Winter, held from 3pm, Sunday 12 August, at the Zenith Theatre, Chatswood.

Helmed by conductor Warwick Tyrrell, one of Australia’s most accomplished musicians, Willoughby Band has been the leading NSW Senior and Junior A Grade combination for more than 25 years, and has won numerous competitions including the ABC Band of the Year, East Coast of Australia, and the Ern Keller Night. In 2011 the band was named the NSW State Champions.
